Unique Finds: JORD Wood Watches

Earlier this week, I wrote about how I love my style to be different (see previous post: Unique Style Inspired by Your Favorite TV Shows and Unique Statement Pieces: Steal the Show with a Bow). With so many chain shops and trends out there, it can be tough to stand out from the crowd! When I find a unique concept, I like to jump on it- fast! So, when JORD reached out inquiring about a collaboration I didn't even need to think before I said 'yes!'

JORD designs quality wooden watches for men and women in a variety of styles. There are so many amazing designer watches out there, and even tech watches with the launch of the Apple Watch, but I have never seen a wooden watch! I just love the concept of using the materials around us in our everyday lives to inspire fashion. I'm not exactly an outdoors-y type of gal, but I don't think anyone can deny there's a real beauty in nature that we tend to overlook. Working in Princeton has definitely opened my eyes to that and I love that JORD embraces it to stand out!

Unique Style Inspired by Your Favorite TV Shows

One major thing about my personality is that I like to be different! I have been this way for as far back as I can remember. It seems that as soon as something becomes really popular, I unintentionally lose interest! That being said, I constantly have my eyes peeled for unique pieces to add to my wardrobe. I'm inspired by a lot of different outlets but my biggest source of inspiration is through my favorite television shows. 

There are so many scripted shows that have amazing costume designers! Gossip Girl and Revenge are two of my past favorites but out of all of the current shows, my favorite- by far!- is Pretty Little Liars. The fashion on that show is really applause-worthy! The costume designer, Mandi Line, is incredibly detail-oriented and she has this amazing balance between being true to each character and taking risks when it comes to their style. 

Simple & Bright Summer Office Style

It's practically a scientific fact that people are busier in the summer! Some countries take entire summer-long holidays, but here in America we maintain our 'work hard, play hard' philosophy. When it comes to the summer, most people still show up to work- or at least work from home- but are more likely to head to after-hour activities rather than sprinting home. That could mean backyard BBQ's, dining on a restaurant's patio, walks on the beach; any excuse to enjoy the beautiful outdoors! 

Getting yourself 'office ready' isn't always easy, especially when you're exhausted from all of this action. I try to keep my summer office look simple so I can maintain my 'girl on the go' lifestyle! 

Now Trending: Flamingo Print

Is it me or does everything seem to be coming up flamingos lately? That's right- anyone who is anyone is flaunting flamingo print fashion this season and I'm lining up to join the party! Everything from tees to swim suits to bags and iPhone cases are festively decorated with flamingos.

Nautical For The Office + Link-Up Co-Host!

I love when the seasons change because that means the color palettes change! With summer, comes light colors like grey, blush, white, and khaki. On the contrary, summer also brings fun brights like turquoise, coral, and yellow. My absolute favorite color for the warmer weather is navy! There's always the concern when you wear light colors that you'll spill something or get it stained somehow. Navy for the office during the summer is perfect because it's lighter than classic black, yet dark enough where it's flattering and you don't have to worry about ruining it. 

My favorite way to style navy for the summer is with a nautical style! It's preppy and classic; it really never goes in or out of style. 

Weekend Casual (... for real)

In the sea of bloggers, most girls look phenomenal for their 'weekend casual' looks. That might leave you scratching your head saying, 'hey, do they really look that fabulous all of the time?' The truth is- fashion is an expression of self. If you're into fashion- like, really truly into fashion- there's no such thing as a day off! Weekend or not, your 'casual' may be a synonym for fabulous but it's usually a few notches down from the dressed-up or office looks. 

So, what is my weekend casual? You all know what I wear to the office but believe it or not, I'm a real person with activities that go on outside of the office! As you've seen in a few past posts, I do try to maximize my closet by creatively making pieces work for the weekend and the office. But every once in a while, I go completely casual! Seriously- I do!

A Fashionable Affair; Wearing a Two-Piece For a Special Occasion

I've hopped on the two-piece bandwagon! I have admired it from afar for a while but recently realized, this is a trend that's for everyone. Ideally, your two pieces are supposed to match and show a tiny bit of skin at your waist. So essentially, you've got a crop top and high-waisted midi skirt. The beauty of the two-pieces is that it's so versatile! You can wear the two pieces together or separately, which leads to endless style possibilities. 

You don't have to have a perfect body to rock one of these! It shows off the waist, which is the smallest part of the torso for most women. There's also a version of this trend- which I'm rocking in this post- where instead of showing a peek of skin, the two pieces layer for a cool, unique silhouette.

How To Style a Floral Kimono for the Office

Every few years, kimonos- or more specifically, floral kimonos- come back around. But THIS year, they're back and more bohemian than ever before! What makes them so boho-chic? It's all in the details. Some are longer in length- dusters- while others have fringe detailing or are just simply loose fitting. However you like your kimono, there's sure to be a style out there for you! 

Kimonos are a fun trend for the summer. They look great with a pair of white denim shorts, a simple dress, or even as a cover-up over a swim suit! It's such a versatile piece! But what about the office? As you all know, I'm all about work wear and maximizing your clothing so it works in and out of the office. 

So here's a style guide on how to bring this trend from the weekend to Monday thru Friday!

Friday Favorites Featuring Cage Rings

Happy Weekend! I'm just loving all of the crazy jewelry trends we've been seeing in the past few year! Ear cuffs, 360 earrings, ear jackets, and now... cage rings! So, what exactly is a cage ring? Well, it's pretty much exactly as it sounds. It's a funky ring with bars in varying styles that sort of make your finger look like it's in a jail cell. That really doesn't make it sound too cute, but take a look for yourself below! These are some pretty cool, modern rings.
