In true American style, most citizens celebrate the holiday by wearing our country's colors and hosting backyard barbecues. This is the true kick-off for the joys of outdoor cooking! In the above set, I featured a must-have Memorial Day work-wear look. I paired a bright red J.Crew embroidered eyelet tank with a horizontal stripe pencil skirt and a navy Ralph Lauren prep school blazer. I love this look because the colors are great for the holiday but in a less obvious way. I accessorized with red Chanel vintage quilted shoulder bag and red Kate Spade espadrille wedge sandals. For jewelry, I used Banana Republic drop earrings and navy and gold Banana Republic hinged bangle. To transform this look into a barbecue ready outfit, replace the stripe pencil skirt with a pair of white or navy tailored shorts!
